PSA Plan

My patner and I started our PSA "rough draft" meaning that we started planning and discussing how, when, and where we were gona start shooting the video. Since the video is due in two weeks, that does not give us much time to do the video we originally wanted to do, so we had to make some changes that will work with out busy schedules.
What my partner and I planned for next week is to actually start shooting the video during our free time and after school. Our goal is to record what it is planned in a week, that way we will have the rest of the following week to edit the movie on imovie.

For the criterion F I would give myself a 4-5 because I have been doing all my work, but lately I have been falling behind on my work and having to turn it in late which is not like me. I will have to start working on that so i can get on task as before.

Research- Day 3

Source 1

School children are taught how to access the Internet, but so are patrons of libraries, community centers, and senior citizen centers. Readily available Internet access has opened the door wide for the world of e-commerce.

Research by Jupiter Media Metrix showed that 13.4 million households banked online from July 2000 to July 2001, a 77.6 percent increase in one year alone. In late 2001 Jupiter predicted online sales would reach $104 billion in 2005.

An important difference between traditional business and e-commerce is the elimination of the middleman, known as disintermediation . Businesses and consumers can communicate directly to carry out transactions, which can help entrepreneurs market their products or services without the cost of salespeople or product representatives.

Some key terms to Digital Commerce: Shopping Cart, Security (SSL), Micropayments, and Electronic Wallets.

Fact recorded on: November 7, 2008. Categories: E-commerce.
Nearly half (49%) of those shoppers say they intend to do their holiday gift buying online, compared with 44% who plan to do so in-store, found the online survey of over 1,000 adults who shop online four or more times per year, spending at least $500 annuallyaccording to ATG
US online retail sales are expected to rise 11% to $156 bln in 2009, excluding revenue from travel. However, that will mark a slowdown in the overall growth rate, which was 13% in 2008, when online retail sales totaled $141 bln, Forrester Research says.

Continued convenience and a clearer understanding of usage terms are expected to increase sales of gift cards by nearly $14 bln over the next five years, according to Packaged Facts. Gift cards, which lead the closed-loop segment of the $81 bln prepaid card market, have been gaining credit since 2002. Then, gift cards were categorized in the catch-all “other” category of in-store payments. In 2003, however, they became their own line item on the survey, accounting for 2% of all sales, a number that doubled in 2005. Nearly 35% of consumers who purchased gift cards in the last 12 months anticipate spending more on gift cards during the next 12 months, with 9.1% expecting to spend “significantly more.”

Sales during the day after Thanksgiving 2008 rose 3% to $10.6 bln, according to ShopperTrak RCT Corp., who tracks sales at more than 50,000 retail outlets. US shoppers spent about $10.3 bln on the day after Thanksgiving 2007.

Reflection

As the weeks gone by we have done our project step by step. We have guided ourselves trough the use of the design cycle. We are now currently on the design/plan step of the cycle. I think I deserve about a 4 or a 5 because  I have been following the agenda and the rubric. Also I am always on top of my blogs and try to advance it and always take and put time into it. For this project I will be using the movie maker to teach the 6th graders about the MYP design cycle. It is a very important project because they are going to be following those steps for 5 years before they enter the IB program.

Design

Design Brief:
10. Write a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it
For this project I will be doing an animated video using this website http://goanimate.com/text2video/everydaylife. Where I am going to be able to
Formulate a Design Specification:
11. What are the requirements for this assignment?
12. What are the limitations you have with this assignment?
13. How will you "test" your presentation?

COMIC MASTER INVESTIGATION-
Simplicity: comic master is my chosen project, because I think it is a fun way where a six grade student will learn about the MYP Cycle in a very fun way. Also because it is somewhat easy for me to do with my busy schedchule of homework.
This website is easy once you get use to it. Just like any other website there is, although it is tricky to use it. You need to push and move a lot of stuff, and there is so much you can edit that you wouldnt know where to start. I think in order for it to be easier for me I need to plan what and how I will do it, and what i would want.
Theme:
The themes that GoAnimate has are a lot. Although the catch is that I think you either have to pay or earn points in order to get diffrent settings, character, music etc. I am still trying to get the hang of this website by messing with videos and such.
The website format is diffrent from the one I first saw at school. I dont know what it might be, but you have to log in in order to see you video, but once you sgin up they change all the characters and stuff. Alhtough, you get to have more setting wich is quite awsome.
Characters:
When you do a video without signing up it only has three choices of character and settings, but if you sign up you will get a variety of characters etc. Since it has multiple of themes, it has a lot o characters. But each has a option of choosing one of three characters etc. if you are in it for free.
That is why my score for characters is quite low, because you cant quite edit it and have a lot of options as i would like to.I had a good plan to do my video, but I dont have that many options. Meaning i will have to work with what i have.
Font:
For this website fonts is not a big thing.Since we are making a video and the characters are talking we dont need writting, therefor we dont need diffrent fonts.
That is why I gave it a zero on my rubric, because we dont need it.
Music:
The music in the video is really important. The music and the setting is what first appears in it, also the music will be playing throughout the video as background music.
I think the mucis is very important in this case because it will grab the students attention. Especially if it is a song that they know.
FLIP BOOK INVESTIGATION-
Simplicity: This site is very fun and entretaining to work with, although it might take a long time to do. This website is not only about drawing but is very simple and down to the point as well.
I know this is easier than the video, but since I am not the artistic type I think it would be harder for me to iterpert a story so they couls understand it.
Theme: The themes for this website varies. It all depends ont he creator and on wha they would want to do.
The website consits of a blank page where you coudl design and do whatever you want so you get to choose your own setting wich is very cool
Character: This goes also to the characters. The flipbook page is a website where you choose what you want to do including characters. There is no option fro that, the only option there is is the size of the pencil line, colors and if you would like to erase a mistake.
That is why I for characters I put a four, because you are free to choose what ever character you would want.
Font:  this also goes for font. You really dont have that much options for font. It inly allows you to change the size of the brush and ethe colors as well.
Music: Since this is a flipbook music dosent go very well with the idea of it, since a flipbook is more of a art thing telling a moving story.
That is why for music I gave it a score of a zero because it dosent have any options for it nor does it need any.
